Class Overview

In 2013, the area's high schools had a down year, only producing 4 high level draft picks that turned pro: New Jersey's 1st rounder LHP Robert Kaminsky/Cardinals and 3rd rounders New York's RHP Mark Armstrong/Reds, Canada's C Tyler O'Neill/Mariners and Connecticut's CF Thomas Milone/Rays. Of those that went to college, new college righties Stanford's Cal Quantrill (Canadian prep) and Maryland's Michael Shawaryn (New Jersey prep) show the most pro potential but neither were top three round prospects. While the 2014 class is stronger overall, there isn't a first round pick to hang with Kaminsky, so I'd still slightly prefer to 2013 crop. That said, it's still very early as this area is notorious for late spring helium guys that come out of nowhere, like Mike Trout.

Recruiting Overview

No college has more than one commit on this year's list as the northeast is home to a number of states/cultures and no college baseball powerhouse programs, like how the Mid-Atlantic region is dominated by Virginia and North Carolina. WIth the northeast having it's share of big price tags and a late start to the spring leading to uncertain draft status, along with no standout talent this year, every player on this list is a threat to go to school.
