BravesCenter's Bill Shanks takes a look at Wednesday's schedule in the Braves' farm system.
RICHMOND
The red hot Richmond Braves will send their hottest pitcher to the mound tonight in Indianapolis as they go for their fifth win in a row.
Kevin Barry
, who has been exceptional in his last three starts, will pitch for Richmond against Indians lefty Mike Connolly. The Braves are now 49-82 on the season.
MISSISSIPPI
The Braves will go for their third in a row tonight when they host West Tennessee. Right-hander
Sean White
(2-4, 4.15 ERA) will go for the Braves against West Tennessee righty
Ricky Nolasco
(11-3, 3.26). Mississippi is now 27-30 in the second half of the season, nine games back of Birmingham in the South Division of the Southern League.
MYRTLE BEACH
The Pelicans continue their series in Wilmington tonight with right-hander
Ricardo Rodriguez
(3-8,5.40) going against left-hander Tommy Hottovy (3-11,5.54). Myrtle Beach is 23-32 on the season, 6.5 games back of Salem in the Carolina League’s Southern Division.
ROME
The Braves are off today and then open a four-game series with second-place Augusta at State Mutual Stadium Thursday.
Chris Vines
should be in line to start tomorrow for the Braves, who are 29-28 in the second half, 5.5 games back of Kannapolis in the Sally League’s Southern Division.
DANVILLE
Danville lost a tough 15-inning game last night and will try to bounce back against Kingsport tonight at 7:00. Jairo Cuevas will twirl for the first place Braves, who are 41-19 on the season, 8.5 games up on Princeton in the East Division of the Appy League.
GCL BRAVES
The real baby Braves will try to break a four-game losing streak this afternoon when they host the Phillies. Sergio Valenzuela could see action for the Braves, who are 24-28 on the season, 7.5 games back of the GCL Yankees.
Bill Shanks has a book out on baseball scouting and player development philosophies with the Braves as the main subject.
