Hudson Game One Postgame Comments

Tim Hudson

Tim Hudson talks about his Game One loss.

Q. Bobby thought you were maybe too fired up. Just wondering if you could assess your performance?
TIM HUDSON: Well, I mean, obviously the performance wasn't too good. Just took me a little while to make the adjustment first few innings. You know, I was just overthrowing, leaving the rubber a little too quick. Made the adjustment after about the fourth and I started feeling pretty normal after that. But yeah, maybe just took too long to make that adjustment for sure.

Q. Tim, you look back at your last half dozen or so starts, your walk counts have been up. Is this some of the same problem you've been having or something late in the season you've been working on?
TIM HUDSON: No, a lot of times a lot of the walks are pitching around guys, that kind of thing. I felt pretty good for the most part. In the second half my command was pretty good. At the end of the day it was obviously not nearly what I wanted it to be. Just goes back to making adjustments. I didn't do it. I didn't do it nearly quickly enough.

Q. After the intentional walk to (Lance) Berkman and (Morgan) Ensberg, what were you trying to do in that sequence?
TIM HUDSON: I was just trying to make good pitches on them. First pitch off the plate to get them some off pitches away. Just threw a cutter that was middle, middle. It was something I was battling with. He got to pitch to hit, hit it, and made us pay for it.
