Richmond lost its second straight game in ten innings Wednesday night as Rochester defeated the Braves 7-6 at the Diamond.

Josh Rabe hit his first home run of the season in the tenth inning off Richmond's Chad Paronto to be the game-winner for the Red Wings.

Rochester roughed up Richmond starter Anthony Lerew for six runs in the first five innings. Lerew continues to struggle, as his ERA is now at 11.51. The Braves did have some good pitching news Wednesday, as Atlanta reliever Macay McBride pitched another scoreless inning as he continues to rehab and prepare to re-join the big league roster.

Scott Thorman had a big night at the plate for the Braves, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Thorman's average is now up to .294. Michael Ryan was 3-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored. His average is now up to .318. Carlos Mendez and Luis Hernandez both drove in two runs for the Braves.

Richmond is now 6-15 on the season. They play Rochester again Thursday night at 7:00 pm with Brian O'Connor on the mound against Red Wings' pitcher Boof Bonser.

Mobile grabbed an early 6-0 lead on the Braves and busted out for five more runs in the sixth inning and beat Mississippi 12-3 in the first game of a ten-game road trip for the Braves.

Right-handed Daniel Curtis had a rough outing, allowing seven runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked six and struck out six. Bryan Digby then gave up five runs (four earned) in one-third of an inning.

Matt Esquivel (9), Mike Rosamond (7), and Josh Arteaga (9) had the runs driven in for the Braves.

Mississippi (8-13) plays game two against Mobile on Thursday night with Sean White going for the Braves against Cesar Carillo.

Myrtle Beach and Salem were washed out Wednesday night as the game was suspended in the third inning due to heavy rain at Coastal Federal Field.

The game will resume Thursday at 5:02 with Myrtle Beach leading 1-0 in the third. They'll play the regular game about twenty minutes after the first game is completed.

The Pelicans are still looking for their fourth win in a row. They are 10-9 on the season.

Rome scored four in the first and four in the third and held off a late rally by the Catfish to win their fourth game in a row, 8-6 Wednesday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium.

Max Ramirez knocked in the first run with a single that scored Ovandy Suero. Then Kala Ka'aihue hit a three-run home run to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.

Columbus scored two in the third, but the Braves bounced back with four more. Quentin Davis doubles home two runs, and then Brandon Monk scored on a wild pitch. Junior Guerra would double in Davis for the Braves' last run of the game.

The Catfish would score two in the fifth and then two in the ninth to mount a comeback, but the Braves would hold on to win by two.

Jo Jo Reyes got his second win of the season. He went five innings and allowed four runs on six hits, four walks, and five strikeouts. Devin Anderson then pitched three scoreless innings. Steve Russell gave up the two runs in the ninth, but he held on to get the final out.

The Braves are now 15-3 on the season. Beau Jones will pitch for Rome on Thursday.
