The Gulf Coast League kicks off its season Tuesday afternoon down in Florida. The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews the day's action around the Braves' farm system, including some All Stars playing in Ohio.
RICHMOND
Richmond sends
Kevin Barry
(3-4, 3.00) to the mound against Pawtucket this afternoon trying to snap the Braves' eleven-game losing streak. The streak has the Braves at 26-45 on the season, 22 games back of Charlotte in the International League's South Division.
MISSISSIPPI
Mississippi is in West Tennessee with a doubleheader with the Diamond Jaxx starting at 6:05. Dave Coggin (0-3, 4.50) will start game one for the Braves against JR Mathes (5-4, 3.43), while lefty
Chris Waters
(3-5, 4.70) starts in the nightcap against
Bobby Brownlie
(2-4, 4.60). With the rainout last night, today will be the first game for the Braves in the second half of the season.
MYRTLE BEACH
Myrtle Beach kicks off its second half tonight at 7:05 in Salem against the Avalanche.
Matt Harrison
(8-3, 2.59) will make his final start for the Pelicans before he's moved up to Double-A Mississippi.
ROME
Rome is off tonight as the Sally League plays its All-Star game in Eastlake, Ohio, home of the Lake County Captains. The Braves will be well represented as Manager Randy Ingle and his entire coaching staff will manage the South All Stars. Lefty
Jo Jo Reyes
will start on the mound, while first baseman Isaiah Ka'aihue, third baseman
Eric Campbell
, catcher
Max Ramirez
, and shortstop
Elvis Andrus
are also on the roster. The game will be televised on CSS around the southeast.
DANVILLE
Danville starts its 2006 season on Wednesday when it hosts Burlington at Legion Field. Jamie Richmond and Jaye Chapman will start for the Braves.
GCL BRAVES
The Gulf Coast League Braves start the 2006 season Tuesday afternoon at 12:00. Raul Gonzalez and Jose Ortegano will piggyback and see action on the mound for the Braves.
