Braves bring back Trey Hodges

The Braves have brought back a member of the 2003 bullpen. The Braves Show's Bill Shanks has more.

The Braves Show has learned the Braves have signed right-hander Trey Hodges to a minor league contract.

Hodges was drafted in the 17th round of the 2000 draft out of LSU. He had two fifteen-win seasons in the minor leagues before spending the entire 2003 season in Atlanta as a long reliever. Hodges was 3-3 with an ERA of 4.66. He allowed 69 hits in 65.2 innings, with 31 walks and 66 strikeouts.

Hodges failed to make the big league club out of spring training in 2004 and returned to Richmond. He made ten starts in Triple-A before the Braves sold his contract to Japan. The Braves brought him back in 2005 for the Richmond roster, but he made six appearances before getting released. Hodges caught on with Rochester, Minnesota's Triple-A affiliate and pitched in nine games.

No word yet on if Hodges will get an invitation to big league camp in February. The Braves will release that list soon, possibly next week. Hodges will likely battle for a job in the Richmond rotation.
