Here is today's schedule around the minor leagues.
RICHMOND
The Braves once again take on Syracuse at the Diamond starting at 7:00 pm.
Charlie Morton
goes for Richmond against lefty
Davis Romero
. Morton is 3-1 with a 2.14 ERA in his first ten starts. His ERA in May is only 1.95. The Braves (25-27 are 2.5 games behind Durham in the International League's South Division.
MISSISSIPPI
Right-hander
Tommy Hanson
will get the start tonight for Mississippi as they host West Tenn in game four of the five-game set. Hanson has allowed eleven earned runs in his last two starts for the Braves. Atlanta reliever
Mike Gonzalez
is expected to get an inning in tonight. Mississippi is 21-32 on the season, ten games out of first place in the Southern League's South Division.
MYRTLE BEACH
After a rainout Wednesday the Pelicans play a doubleheader tonight starting at 6:00 pm ET in Winston-Salem.
Scott Diamond
(1-0, 3.00) will pitch in game one for Myrtle Beach, while
Deunte Heath
(6-2, 3.51) is scheduled to go in the nightcap. The Pelicans are 32-19 on the season, 8.5 games up on Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.
ROME
Northwest Georgia is abuzz today with the chance to see Atlanta pitcher
John Smoltz
get in an inning tonight for the
Rome Braves
. They host Asheville at 7:00 at State Mutual Stadium.
Jeff Locke
(1-5, 4.89) is also scheduled to pitch for the Braves. Rome is 18-33 on the season, 17 games out of first place.
