Braves recall Jeff Francoeur from AA
Francoeur was sent down late Thursday night after struggling for most of the season. He played in three games with the Mississippi Braves and was 7-13 with two RBI, one walk, and two strikeouts.
The plan was to originally leave Francoeur down in Double-A through the big league All Star Break, which would have brought him back to Atlanta next Friday. But with his solid work this weekend and the injuries the Braves had over the weekend, the plan was accelerated.
Francoeur has a .234 batting average in the big leagues this season, with eight home runs, 41 RBI, and a .287 on base percentage.
Atlanta also called up Brent Lillibridge from Triple-A Richmond and purchased the contract of Richmond reliever Vladimir Nunez. Omar Infante, Jeff Bennett, and Manny Acosta were all placed on the disabled list after the game with the Astros on Sunday.
