The Atlanta Braves have traded outfielder Mark Kotsay to the Boston Red Sox for minor league outfielder Luis Sumoza.
Kotsay hit .289 this season for the Braves with six home runs and 37 RBI in 318 at bats. He had a .338 OBP and played stellar defense in center field.
The Red Sox needed Kotsay after the disabled former Braves outfielder J.D. Drew earlier in the week.
Sumoza is a 20-year-old right-handed hitting outfielder who was in Lowell of the New York- Penn League. He hit .301 in 193 at bats with 11 home runs and 38 RBI, 15 doubles, nine stolen bases, and a .366 on base percentage.
