The Bill Shanks Show will be coming back. Here's more info!
‘The Bill Shanks Show’ will be back on the air in middle Georgia starting Monday, March 23rd. A long time friend of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and a veteran broadcaster and author, Shanks will resume his show after a brief hiatus. The show will air on Macon ’s WFSM Fox Sports 1670, a Clear Channel station.
The new program will air from 3-6 pm every weekday afternoon. It will be available online at www.foxsports1670.com. Shanks will once again be joined by producer Russ Brown and Skip Seda, with Charles Olson providing local sports updates.
“We appreciate the fans wanting the show back on the air, and that’s exactly what we’re going to give them,” Shanks said. “The show will be an hour longer, and it will be very similar to what we had before. We think it will be bigger and better than ever and are honored to be joining Clear Channel!”
Clear Channel recently switched AM 1670 to an all-sports format. The station carries Fox Sports Radio, along with ‘The Jim Rome Show’ every afternoon. WFSM is one of the strongest AM stations in the state of Georgia.
“Over the years Bill has demonstrated that he is the guy to go to for sports information in Middle Georgia and we are very excited to have his program on Fox Sports 1670,” said Bill Clark, Market Manager for Clear Channel Macon. “Bill will bring a great local flavor to the station and the show will offer area sports fans to opportunity to talk with an expert about their favorite teams.”
Shanks has been broadcasting in Georgia since 1986, when as a 16-year-old in Waycross he had his first radio sports talk show. Along with hosting radio talk shows around the state, Shanks was a co-host on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network in 2006. Shanks has also been a television sports anchor in Brunswick and Macon . In 2005 Shanks wrote his first book, ‘Scout’s Honor: The Bravest Way To Build A Winning Team.’
“This will again be a caller-driven show,” Shanks explained. “We’ll have a great lineup of guests on everyday. We want to talk sports just like we were all sitting around at a sports bar watching sports on television talking about our favorite teams.”
A press conference will be held Wednesday, March 18th at 2:30 at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame with Shanks and Clark available for interviews. “We’re delighted that Bill will be back on the air and are excited to be able to play a small part in making the announcement”, said GSHF Director Jacquelyn Decell.
