Dayton Moore has brought yet another former Braves prospect to Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals have signed free agent first baseman Ernesto Mejia, who spent seven seasons in the Braves' organization.

Mejia was a favorite of Dayton Moore, now the Royals' general manager and a former member of the Atlanta front office.

Mejia once again battled injuries last year and played in only 36 games between the GCL Braves, Myrtle Beach, and Mississippi. Mejia hit .256 with 4 home runs and 17 RBI in his three stops down on the farm.

In his minor league career, Mejia hit .281 with the Braves, with 48 home runs and 231 RBI. His best season was 2008, when he hit 21 home runs and drove in 93 for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Kansas City had 16 players in its organization last year that had spent time in the Braves' farm system or in Atlanta with the big league team.
