Biography:
Yunel was the Braves' second round draft pick (75th overall) in the 2005 amateur draft. He defected from Cuba in 2004 and became eligible for the draft.

The Braves compared him to, of all people, Edgar Renteria when he was drafted. Now he's two levels behind Renteria in Double-A Mississippi.

Escobar will play shortstop, second, and thid this year in the minors to become more versatile and give the Braves additional options.

He's an energetic player, who whistles a lot on the field and even at the plate. Offensively, he's real similar to Renteria, and in the field he's a bit more flashy.

This kid could be knocking on the door very quickly this season.
