| Biography: |
| Steve Russell was drafted by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2002 draft out of Cimarron Memorial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He pitched well in Danville in 2003, but then struggled in Rome the next season. Russell had a 4.29 ERA in 22 games (15 starts) for Rome that season. Halfway through the 2004 season, Russell came down with elbow pain and had to have Tommy John surgery. He returned to pitch in 15 games between the GCL Braves, Danville, and Rome, striking out 42 batters in 39.2 innings. Russell will start off this season in Rome, and now that he's healthy, the Braves hope he can show he is, once again, a legit prospect. |
