| Biography: |
| Max Ramirez was signed out of Venezuela on October 1, 2002. He was originally a third baseman, but the Braves moved him behind the plate as a catcher prior to the 2005 season. Ramirez has done well, even though he still has a lot of development to go. But offensively, he's far above the curve. He's got a .311 career minor league average in 620 at bats, with 21 home runs, and 125 RBI coming into this season. Ramirez will be Rome's starting catcher this season, although a shoulder problem in spring training may limit his time behind the plate. But expect the Braves to get him into the game as the DH as much as possible, since Ramirez is a hitter. |
