Career Notes:
Sosa was orginally signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Colorado Rockies in 1995, but was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 2000 Rule-5 Draft and by Milwaukee in the 2001 draft. And then in 2002, Tampa Bay picked him up off waivers from the Brewers.
In his four-plus years in the majors, Sosa has posted a 27-39 record with a 4.58 ERA and is 20-33 in his 74 starts. The Dominican Republic native pitched for his nation in the World Baseball Classic this spring. He spent the first three seasons of his career, 2002 through 2004, with the Tampa Bay prior to joining the Braves in a March, 2005, trade that sent Nick Green to Tampa Bay.
