Rome won their six straight on Friday (RT)

Rain spoiled the fun on Friday as Richmond and Myrtle Beach were rained out. However, Rome and Greenville did play, and click on for the latest scores and recaps.

Richmond rained out against Charlotte

The Richmond Braves were rained out on Friday night in their game against Charlotte. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 21st in Richmond.

The Braves welcome the Durham Bulls to Richmond Saturday for the start of a two game series. Chris Fussell is scheduled to start for Richmond.

Greenville wins a thriller over Carolina

Despite trailing 6-0 earlier in the game, the Greenville Braves (11-9) bounced back for an exciting 8-7 victory over the Carolina Mudcats, winning three out of the four games in the series.

With the G-Braves trailing 7-6, Billy McCarthy came through with a one out base hit scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the victory. McCarthy leads Greenville with 14 RBI through 20 games.

Roman Colon started the game for Greenville and struggled for the first time this season. Colon allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings of work. Kevin Barry (1-2) got the win in relief after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Other hitting stars for Greenville:

Adam LaRoche 2 for 4 with an RBI

Kelly Johnson 2 for 4 with an RBI

Bryce Terveen 1 for 3 with 2RBI

Greenville heads to Huntsville for the start of a four game series with the Stars on Saturday. Matt Belisle (1-2) is scheduled to start for the G-Braves.

Myrtle Beach rained out

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were rained out on Friday night. They will play a doubleheader against the Salem Avalanche starting at 12:05 on Saturday afternoon. There should be a rush at the box office as it is "Adam LaRoche Bobblehead Day" at Coastal Federal Field.

The Pelicans are 7 and 12 on the season.

Rome wins sixth straight in beating Delmarva 12-3

The red hot Rome Braves extended their winning streak to six games Friday night with a 12-3 victory over the Delmarva ShoreBirds in a rain shortened game.

Several hitting stars for Rome on Friday. Brian McCann was two for four including his third home run of the season. Wes Timmons was two for five including a solo home run, his first of the 2003 season. Carlos Guzman went two for three with 4 RBI. Guzman leads Rome with 19 RBI. Yaron Peters increased his batting average to .290 wtih a 3 for 4 night, including two RBI (10).

Kyle Davies started for Rome and went four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. Davies walked four and struck out six. His ERA is now 1.59. Ricardo Rodriquez pitched two solid innings to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Rome will play Delmarva again on Saturday.
