Pirates have all three players from trade up

Jeff Locke was called up by the Pirates on Sunday. It means all three players from the Nate McLouth trade three years ago - along with McLouth - are on the Pittsburgh roster.

The trade happened almost three years ago. The Braves traded pitchers Charlie Morton and Jeff Locke, along with outfielder Gorkys Hernandez, for outfielder Nate McLouth.

McLouth was a bust for Atlanta, hitting .229 for the Braves in three years. But the Pirates must be happy with the return, as all three players are now on their roster.

And, oh by the way, McLouth is back there as well as a backup outfielder.

Pittsburgh recalled Jeff Locke on Sunday as Jason Grilli was placed on the bereavement list. Locke, who made three major league starts late last season, was 3-3 in eight starts for AAA Indianapolis. He had a 3.02 ERA, 48 hits allowed in 47.2 innings, 10 walks and 36 strikeouts.

Hernandez was called up on Friday. He was hitting .266 in Indianapolis with two home runs, 14 RBI, and seven stolen bases. He's played in 668 minor league games and this will be his first action in the major leagues.

Morton is a big part of the Pirates' rotation. He's 2-4 in seven starts with a 4.35 ERA. Morton won 10 games for Pittsburgh last season.

McLouth, by the way, is struggling. He's hitting only .143 in 61 plate appearances.
