DANVILLE, VA - Being picked in the first round of the First-Year Player Draft of the MLB shows high regards for a player's abilities. Lucas Sims, 18-year old starting pitcher at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds was the 21st overall selection made by the Atlanta Braves. Already committed to Clemson University, he signed a contract to begin his professional baseball career with the Braves.

"I was watching on the MLB Network when I got picked," said Sims, the Lawrenceville, GA native. "It was always my dream to play professional baseball in the first place, but also to play for the team you grew up rooting for is special." So for Clemson, they lose a prized commit to the lure of the big leagues, and for Sims, he gets to live his dream – playing baseball for the Atlanta Braves...
