Minor League Preview - July 14

Anthony Lerew pitches tonight for Mississippi in Huntsville to highlight the Braves' Minor League Schedule. The Braves Show's Bill Shanks takes a look at the entire schedule around the Braves' farm system.


Richmond takes on Syracuse tonight at 7:00 with Lance Cormier on the hill. The Braves are 34-56 on the season.


Anthony Lerew goes for the Braves tonight as they play in Huntsville at 8:05 pm ET. Mississippi is 6-16 so far in the second half, 7 games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.


Myrtle Beach gives Joey Devine (0-1, 6.75) a start tonight as they host the Winston-Salem Warthogs at 7:02. The Braves want Devine to get a few quality innings, so he'll do it as a starter. Lucas Harrell (7-2, 2.42) goes for Winston-Salem. The Pelicans are 13-6 in the second half, 1.5 games up on Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.

Clint Sammons has been red hot for Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans' catcher has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games and is batting .393 in that stretch. He's lifted his average from .200 on June 21st to .247 entering tonight's game.


Rome sends Tyler Bullock (5-4, 4.61) to the hill tonight as they host the Charleston Riverdogs at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves are 10-11 in the second half, 7 games back of Augusta in the Sally League's Southern Division.

Rome will be without third baseman Eric Campbell, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a back strain. Campbell is hitting .286 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI.


Danville is playing a doubleheader today with Bluefield. The first game is the completion of Thursday's game, which was suspended due to bad weather. Jeff Katz (0-0, 13.50) will start for Danville in the opener, while Kyle Cofield (0-2, 5.74) goes for the Braves in the nightcap. Danville is 12-9 on the season, 4.5 games back of Pulaski in the Appy League's East Division.


Outfielder Trevion Griffin scored on a passed ball in the top of the 10th and the Braves beat the Indians 5-4 Friday afternoon. Here's the box score.

Yeliar Castro started for the Braves and allowed three runs in two innings. Australian teenager Steve Kent pitched three more scoreless innings. The lefty now has allowed only one earned run in fifteen innings this season.

Adam Parliment hit his third home run of the year for the Braves, who are now 10-10 on the season.
